Instagram Usage statistics in Uganda

Instagram now has made 8 years of existence and currently, it has over one billion users, with Uganda being part of the subscribing countries.

These Instagram users are not just individuals but there are also business brands that use it for advertising and so for Uganda entrepreneurs and businessmen who had not yet put advertising using Instagram into consideration, I think you need to give it a chance and see how fruitful this platform would be to your business.

Instagram is most liked or used by the youth and its preferred content is visual and that is what attracts more attention if you are looking into growing your business then you have to make sure that whatever you post is more of visual as compared to merely texts.

Following the statistics of February 2020, currently in Uganda Instagram is used by 5.11% of the total of Uganda’s population.

As time goes the number of Instagram users also varies as years increase also the number of internet users increases, social media reach increases and also the number of Instagram users increases as we are going to see in the statistics for over the years below;

In Uganda is estimated that the average Instagram user spends 15 minutes a day on the app and 90 percent of Instagram users are younger than 35.
• According to statistics as of October 2018, there were 402 100 Instagram users in Uganda which accounted for 0.8% of its entire population.
• Of which the majority were men that is 59.7% and women were 40.3%
• People aged 18 to 24 were the largest user group with 167 000 people
• The highest difference between men and women occurs within people aged 25 to 34, where men lead by 35 000 people

• As of January 2019, there was a slight increase in the number of Instagram users from 402100 in 2018 and this time they were 422 100 Instagram users in Uganda which accounted for 0.9% of its entire population.
• The majority of them were men – 60.4% while were women 39.6%
• People aged 18 to 24 were the largest user group with 184 000 people
• The highest difference between men and women occurs within people aged 18 to 24, where men lead by36 000 people.

• As of May 2019, there were 303 900 Instagram users in Uganda, which accounted for 0.6% of its entire population, this shows a decline in the number of users as compared to those of January 2019
• The majority of them were men – 57.7% while women were 42.3%
• People aged 18 to 24 were the largest user group with 137 000 people
• The highest difference between men and women occurs within people aged 25 to 34, where men lead by20 000 people.

• As of November 2019, there were 338 700 Instagram users in Uganda, which accounted for 0.7% of its entire population and there was again an increment in the number of Instagram users as compared to May 2019.
• The majority of them were men 56.8% while women were 43.2 %
• People aged 18 to 24 were the largest user group 150, 000 people
• The highest difference between men and women occurs within people aged 25 to 34, where men lead by21 000 people.

• As of January 2020, there were 355 900 Instagram users in Uganda, which accounted for 0.8% of its entire population and there was an increment in the number of Instagram users as compared to November 2019
• The majority of them were men 57.2% while women were 42.8%
• People aged 18 to 24 were the largest user group with 157 000 people.
• The highest difference between men and women occurs within people aged 25 to 34, where men lead by 23 000 people.

• As of February 2020, There were 357 000 Instagram users in Uganda, which accounted for 0.8% of its entire population and the increment in the number of users was very small but more than of January 2020
• The majority of them were men – 56.2% while men were 43.8%
• People aged 18 to 24 were the largest user group (158 000).
• The highest difference between men and women occurs within people aged 25 to 34, where men lead by 22 000.
